Against! Against against against!

What if the person ends up being guilty? I think killing one innocent person is reason enough to not have the death penalty. Killing someone for no other reason than “We think he did it” is a really stupid way to handle things. And even if you can prove 100% beyond a shadow of a doubt that someone did something….killing them is letting them off too easy (assuming it’s not something stupid…I can’t think of anything off the top of my head, but I’m pretty sure there are some things out there that could carry the death penalty that are ridiculous). Kill them…and BAM! They’re dead. No. Let the murderer or the rapist rot in jail for the rest of their life. Let them suffer for all the suffering they put others through. I know some of my friends are going to disagree with me on that count, probably (I understand retribution vs restitution. But sometimes there’s no way to make it okay again besides seeing that asshole suffer for the rest of their lives…)

Plus, your average execution wastes so much more money than life in prison. There’s all the appeals that the process goes through, that most people exhaust, if only to prolong their lives, you have to feed the person while they’re on death row, you have to buy the stuff to kill them from special suppliers…it all adds up, REALLY FAST. So no death penalty also saves money, huzzah!
